Denka

 

Denka Co. (whose older full name was “Denki Kagyaku Kyogo” or the “electro-chemical company”) is one of Japan’s main chemical industries. It’s major products are cement and fertilizers. The company is part of the Mitsui conglomerate and has about 112 subsidiary agencies and several overseas divisions in both the US and Europe.

 

It’s Omi Plant in Itogawa city (Niigata Prefecture) has it’s own internal railway network, where a variety of diesel locomotives is operated, shuttling chemical products and concrete from the plant to the Hokuriku Main Line (nowdays the Echigo Tokimeki Railway Nihonkai Hisui Line) at Omi Station.
